FAQs

  • Yes, we are! YPL is certified with Walks N’ Wags Pet First Aid - Canada’s longest standing Pet First Aid program. Knowing what to do in the initial moments of an unexpected event can be critical to your pet’s life and the outcome of the situation. It is important to us that we are prepared and equipped to handle any situation that may arise.

  • Yes! We are Licensed, fully Insured and Bonded. Surprisingly, this is the least asked question we get, yet a really important one. We highly recommend whomever you hire for your pet care needs, that you know in advance how prepared the company is - we have your best interest at heart. It’s peace of mind for the unexpected.

  • For our regular day-to-day group dog walking service, we round up each dog/group by vehicle and head to our walking destination. They are dropped off in a similar fashion. Private Walks and Pet Visits do not involve transportation.

Our doggie mobile is equipped with air conditioning and professionally secured gear, keeping your dog contained and safe at all times. We also have fresh filtered water available. We do not under any circumstances leave your dog(s) unattended in a warm or hot vehicle. Your dog’s safety will always be our #1 priority.

  • Absolutely! We walk rain or shine. After all, it is Vancouver and we "expect the unexpected”. Your dogs needs don’t change with the weather, and so it is important you can count on us all year long. If the weather is below freezing or exceptionally hot, we may shorten the duration of the walk as we see fit. Mid summer months when it is the hottest, we find shaded areas to walk, and always have fresh water on hand with stops along the way.

  • Generally speaking, no. We provide on-leash dog walks, always. You can not predict unforeseen circumstances and they do occur (dogs will be dogs, after all). To ensure the safety of your dog in our care, we prefer to keep him/her leashed/attended to at all times. With the exception being, from time to time, we may carefully choose an enclosed area by ourselves where we let the dogs have a run and play together. This privilege is only given to dogs with prior consent, who have earned it, and has a trusted recall.

  • We specialize in small to small-medium dogs under 35lbs, of any breed or age, as long as your dog is friendly and exhibits acceptable behaviour around other dogs. We do not accept dogs who display (or have had past) aggressive tendencies.

Please Note: dogs non-neutered and/or in heat are accepted based on assessment. Please let the office know prior to requesting service to discuss your dogs situation and needs.

  • We do. Upon registration via our online dog walking and dog sitting portal (Precise Petcare) you can review a full list of our Policies and Procedures. Policies differ between services. In the event we show up for a scheduled walk and your dog is not at home, or unable to join their walk, a full charge applies.

  • Private walks are available upon request/our availability. Puppies who have completed their 2nd or equivalent set of shots are welcome to join our small group settings. It is important to keep in mind your puppy will have immunity and some protection from the mother at birth, and is not completely unprotected at this time. Some exposure to other dogs and the environment will help build immunity, fighting off bad viruses. We believe socializing your puppy appropriately in the early stages is highly beneficial to their early development. We’re extra cautious around puddles/ dirty water, communal water bowls, fecies and urine around the grounds your puppy is walking and sniffing around.

  • Yes, every dog registered with Yaletown Puppy Love is required by law to be licensed with the City of Vancouver by the age of 3-months. You can buy or renew your dogs’ license here. We also ask that your dog carry an identification tag on them at all times that includes their name and your phone number.
